Renovess Completes the Renovation of an Icon

Updated: Mar 4, 2020

Renovess was engaged in February 2019 to renovate the 70 year old Watooka House which had been left in a state of utter disrepair.

Over a period of 12 weeks Renovess lovingly restored the 1940's wooden structure to her former glory. The Renovess Team meticulously performed the period restoration refurbishing as many of the building's original 1940's installation as possible and replacing broken chandeliers with specially commissioned period pieces. Even the original 1940 metal furniture was restored to its former glory.

Using this impressive structure as our backdrop we designed a riverfront marina and boardwalk. The pier has been completed and houses a bar and restaurant.

We enhanced the original property by adding a cozy corner in the bar area overlooking the scenic Demerara River so that patrons could socialise privately over a dink or a meal.

Across from the Watooka House we also refurbished the Manager's House converting it to a Bridal Suite.

The Bauxite Mine Train Station was also refurbished and converted to a museum.

Renovess are proud to have been part of this historical restoration. Designs and photos can been found on our portfolio page.
